Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about pricing, player setup, offline scoring, match records, live viewing and the web scorer.

Getting started

Start a match without extra work.

The basics for installing My Umpire, setting up a match and getting to the first ball.

Is My Umpire free?

Yes. My Umpire is free to use, with no subscription required for the core scoring experience.

Does My Umpire contain ads?

No. The app and website scorer are ad-free, so the scoring surface stays focused on the match.

Do I need an account?

No. You can start scoring without creating an account or signing in.

How do I start a quick match?

Open the scorer, enter the team names, choose the player counts and overs, select who bats first, and tap Start. Player names are optional for a quick match, so you can get to the first delivery even when the full roster is not ready.

Scoring and rules

Keep every delivery clear.

Answers about player names, extras, undo and the match settings that shape a local game.

Can I add players when I want a fuller record?

Yes. Start with automatic Batter and Bowler names, or add real players before or during the match for complete batting and bowling figures.

What scoring events are supported?

The scorer records runs, fours, sixes, wides, no-balls, byes, leg-byes and wickets. Legal balls, over totals, batter figures and bowler figures are updated from those events.

Can I change the match rules?

Yes. Set the overs, balls per over and team sizes, then choose local extras and free-hit rules where they apply. The number of wickets follows the player structure and last-player batting setting.

Can I undo a scoring action?

Yes. Use undo or redo for a recent scoring action. The scorer replays the saved match history so the score, overs and player figures continue from the corrected state.

Does cricket scoring work offline?

Core scoring and saved match data in the mobile app work on the device without an internet connection. Live sharing is the part that needs a connection, because spectators need the published score to reach the website.

Live sharing

Give spectators one simple way in.

The scorer keeps using the app while everyone else follows from a browser.

How does the live code work?

Your My Umpire installation keeps one reusable six-character code. When you start sharing, spectators see the current match on that device. Starting another match replaces the previous current broadcast.

How do I start live cricket score sharing?

Start the match in the My Umpire mobile app, open Live and start sharing. The app remains the scoring source while the website shows the published live score.

How do spectators watch a match live?

They open the Live page, enter the six-character code shared by the scorer, and open the match view. No account or app installation is required for spectators.

What does the live match page show?

It can show the current score, innings, batters, bowler, current over, chase details, over history, scorecard and the result when those details have been published by the scorer.

Why is a live score not updating?

The scorer needs an internet connection to publish new events. Check that live sharing is still active in the app, that the code is correct, and that the browser has a working connection before refreshing the match page.

Records and results

Understand the game after the final ball.

Use the match record to review what happened, not just who won.

Can I see batting and bowling scorecards?

Yes. Player-level matches include batting and bowling tables with the figures needed to review an innings.

Can I review individual overs?

Yes. Over summaries and ball-by-ball events make it possible to see where an innings changed direction, including boundaries, extras and wickets.

Can I edit a match after it starts?

For eligible matches, you can update setup details such as team sizes, selected players and overs without rewriting the deliveries already recorded. The app keeps changes within the rules of the current match state.

Are player profiles reusable?

Yes. The app keeps player records separate from individual matches, so you can reuse a player in future teams and review career batting and bowling summaries over time.

Does My Umpire support Super Overs?

Yes. When a match is tied, you can continue into a separate Super Over. If the scores remain level, another Super Over can be played without replacing the regulation innings record.

Where can I see the match result?

The result screen shows the winner and margin, or clearly marks a tie. If the match was decided by a Super Over, that result is shown with the tie-break information.

Web scorer and app

Choose the right way to score.

Use the browser for a focused quick game, or the mobile app when you want a fuller record over time.

Can I score a match in a browser?

Yes. The free Web Scorer works on phones, tablets and desktop browsers. It is designed for a quick match with a short setup and a separate, distraction-free scoring view.

Can I use the Web Scorer on my phone?

Yes. The scorer is mobile first and adapts its controls to smaller screens, while still using the available space on a tablet or desktop.

Does the Web Scorer save my match?

The browser keeps the current quick match locally while you are using it. Download the mobile app when you need offline match history, player profiles or ongoing live sharing.

Is My Umpire available for Android and iPhone?
